Week 2 Personal Reflection

This week class by Mr. Yap is about creativity. Well, it was really an interesting lecture and I gain more understanding about creativity after the class. First, He asked, “Who are the person that you think they are creative?” And “Why do you think he is creative?” Many different types of answer start to voice out by the students. Some of them answered it logically and some just say whatever things pop out on their mind. After that, Mr Yap said, there is no right or wrong, it is only good or bad. Each of us has our own opinion about it. When you think it is correct, it might be wrong for other people. So, creativity is something very subjective, that you cannot judge based on your point of view only. So, what is creativity? I guess everyone have their own answer for it.

Lesson 1: Creative Image of my Friend – Hoong Yau

This is a creative representation of my friend, Hoong Yau.
I view him as a Sweat man, because he always likes to say “SWEAT”. Whenever we tell jokes among each other, he always will end up with a word- “sweat”. This funny name -“Sweat man” was actually created by my friends and the name is actually inspired from “Superman”. He is also a funny person who often makes us laugh. Whenever we heard the word “sweat” came from his mouth, all of us will look at him and laugh out laugh together. He just cannot stop mention the word “sweat”. He has a very good sense of design and can also be consider a young artist.

“Sweat, Sweat, Sweat” from Sweat man.

Week 2 Class Summary

Date : 26 January 2010
Title : Defining Creativity
Objective : To know about creativity
Lecture : Mr.Yap Sau Bin

Creativity is defined as the ability to think how to turn imaginative ideas into reality and discovery of new ideas to solve problems.

The most common creative people that people think of are Designers and Artists but actually everyone can be creative too. In our daily life, we can always observe the modification of things done by our parents at home. This is also consider creative too because they able to fix the problems using their own methods and reuse the things instead of throwing it away. Another good example is children. Every child also has their own creativity. Whenever they hungry or they want to have something, they will think of crying to let their parents knows.

So, creativity is easy to achieve by anyone when we take steps in getting used to it and as long as we have the will to think differently or change our attitude. With the existence of creativity, any problems can be solving easily and we are able to achieve improvement of anything around us.

Lastly, Creativity is an ability, an attitude and a process.
